After leaving school at 16, Colin Fuller spent one year at College studying building construction, served a five year apprenticeship with the then, biggest jobbing firm in East Anglia, C. & J. Haileys Ltd., moved to a large Central Heating firm in Norwich for twelve months before starting in business as 'East Coast Heating & Plumbing Svcs'. In 1968 with a partner, who left several years later.
